EMS 1278 - Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic) Career and Technical Education
Class Hours: 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab, 2 hours clinical Semester Credit Hours: 8 hours
The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform advanced prehospital care. Building upon the foundations of the EMT curriculum, this course covers advanced topics in patient assessment, airway management, intravenous and pharmacologic interventions, and trauma care. Students will gain hands-on experience through laboratory sessions and supervised clinical rotations, preparing them to make informed, life-saving decisions in the field. The AEMT course aligns with the National EMS Education Standards and meets or exceeds state certification requirements. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared to sit for the NREMT (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians), Advanced EMT certification exam, and pursue careers as AEMT’s in ambulance services, fire departments, and other emergency response agencies.
