Scholarships

Institutional Scholarships

Jones College provides various academic, service, athletic and other scholarship opportunities to students.  These institutional scholarship awards are designed to assist students in meeting the direct cost of attending Jones College.

There is not an application process to determine the institutional scholarship eligibility.  A student’s scholarship will be applied based on the information provided during the admission process or determined by the club/organization.

A student can combine institutional and service scholarships to cover tuition, registration fee, room and board, and lab fees (excluding the course material fee, ebooks, and books).

Scholarship recipients are expected to remain enrolled in a minimum of 15 hours until the completion of the semester (exceptions on semester hours are made for students in certain CTE and Nursing programs).  If a student chooses to enroll in more than fifteen (15) hours, they may be required to pay the difference in tuition and fee cost.

Eligible scholarships will only be awarded during the Fall and Spring semesters.  Scholarships are not awarded during Summer enrollment.

Scholarships will not pay for out-of-state tuition charges, campus violations, missed proctored exams or other non-education related expenses.

Institutional scholarships cannot exceed institutional costs. Scholarships may be reduced based on Federal Financial Aid guidelines as well as state and local policies.  Jones College reserves the right to change any and all fees at any point in the semester.

Scholarship recipients should abide by the College Code of Conduct.  A student may be removed from school for the violation of the Code of Conduct as listed in the Code of Conduct of Jones College and upon such removal will be required to repay all applicable charges.

Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 15 semester hours to be eligible for scholarships or participation. Athletic scholarships have differing criteria based on regulations of the Mississippi Board of Community Colleges and the National Junior College Athletic Association. If a student’s scholarship is revoked, or if a student becomes ineligible for a scholarship in subsequent semesters, an appeal may be lodged with the appropriate Division.

PAID INTERNSHIPS

Other Scholarship recipients must pass 15 semester hours with a 2.5 semester GPA to remain eligible for scholarship.  Failure to complete the semester or failure to comply with the terms could result in the revocation of the scholarship, and the student may be required to repay all applicable charges.

CTE scholarships are based on program requirements and hours.·

Classes attempted at other colleges and transferred (including dual enrollment) to Jones College within one year of high school graduation are subject to GPA requirements.

If a student fails to meet the scholarship requirements, the scholarship will be suspended. The semester of suspension is counted as one semester of eligibility for the scholarship. Once the student meets the semester hour and GPA requirements, the scholarship may be applied to the student’s account for future semesters.

A student may appeal a scholarship suspension by submitting relevant documentation to the scholarship committee within the semester they are appealing for scholarship reinstatement.  An appeal will not be accepted for a semester that has ended.  Students will receive notification from the scholarship coordinator once their appeal has been reviewed.
