Veterinary Medical Technology (Leading to BS Transfer), AA

This curriculum aligns with the requirements for the bachelor’s degree in veterinary medical technology offered by the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Students should consult the website and other official publications from this program for additional application requirements. Students wishing to use this as a pre-professional preparation for veterinary school (to earn ultimately the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree) will be required to take additional science courses, as designated in the official “Veterinary Medicine” curriculum plan. Program Requirements:


The following advisement plan is a recommended course of study. Academic programs offered at Jones College are designed to meet the educational needs and advancement of students who plan to transfer course credit to a university and complete a bachelor’s degree. As part of each academic program, students will take courses to meet the Jones College’s general education core requirements and electives as determined by the student and his/her faculty advisor. All academic programs are designed to lead to an Associate of Arts degree.

To streamline the transfer of credit from Jones College to any university in the State of Mississippi, Jones College participates in the articulation agreement between the Mississippi Community College Board and the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning. For the purpose of ensuring transfer-ability within Mississippi, the Mississippi Articulation Transfer Tool (MATT) shall be used to advise and guide students in choosing the best courses to take as part of the requirements to graduate from Jones College with an Associate of Arts degree.

1Students wishing to apply ultimately for veterinary school (to earn the professional degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) will need additional science requirements including CHE 2424 - Organic Chemistry I and CHE 2434 - Organic Chemistry II and PHY 2414 - General Physics I and PHY 2424 - General Physics II and can begin one or both of these course sequences during the sophomore year in place of, or in addition to these social science and humanities courses.
