The following curriculum is based on common requirements for application to associate and bachelor level dental hygiene programs. Students are STRONGLY advised to check with the program of their choice for a specific list of required courses and other application procedures and requirements.

Program Requirements:


The following advisement plan is a recommended course of study. Academic programs offered at Jones College are designed to meet the educational needs and advancement of students who plan to transfer course credit to a university and complete a bachelor’s degree. As part of each academic program, students will take courses to meet the Jones College’s general education core requirements and electives as determined by the student and his/her faculty advisor. All academic programs are designed to lead to an Associate of Arts degree.

To streamline the transfer of credit from Jones College to any university in the State of Mississippi, Jones College participates in the articulation agreement between the Mississippi Community College Board and the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning. For the purpose of ensuring transfer-ability within Mississippi, the Mississippi Articulation Transfer Tool (MATT) shall be used to advise and guide students in choosing the best courses to take as part of the requirements to graduate from Jones College with an Associate of Arts degree.

Note(s):


1Not required by all dental hygiene programs but may be required as a pre-requisite for later science courses.

2Some programs require one semester of chemistry while others require two semesters. If only on semester is required, students may be able to pick from  CHE 1114 - Chemistry Survey or CHE 1214 - General Chemistry I. If two semesters are required, students should take CHE 1214 - General Chemistry I and CHE 1224 - General Chemistry II. Students should check application requirements for specific programs.

3Not required for all dental hygiene programs.

4Students should choose from PSY 2513 - Child PsychologyPSY 2523 - Adolescent Psychology, or PSY 2533 - Human Growth and Development.
